Armed Forces Security (H.K.) Limited and its responsible person were fined $41,500 and $37,000 respectively for wage offences under the Employment Ordinance (EO) at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts today (August 27). The company and its responsible person were also ordered to clear an outstanding amount of about $49,000 to five employees via the court. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The company failed to pay wages amounting to a total of about $88,000 to six employees within seven days after the expiry of wage periods and termination of employment.

The responsible person was also convicted for his consent, connivance or neglect in the wage offences.

"The judgment helps disseminate a strong message to all employers and responsible persons of companies that they have to pay wages to employees in accordance with the EO," a spokesman for the Labour Department said.

"The Labour Department does not tolerate the above offences and will spare no effort in enforcing the law and protecting employees' statutory rights," the spokesman added.
