The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, Mr Ma Xingrui, at Government House this afternoon (August 24).
Mr Leung said that Hong Kong and Shenzhen have been working closely in various areas for their mutual benefit. He expressed his gratitude for Shenzhen's support and collaboration in respect of economic and trade issues, youth affairs co-operation and facilitating immigration clearance between the two places. Mr Leung also said that the comprehensive deepening of the country's reform would bring about more opportunities for the joint development of Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Both sides agreed to continue to strengthen co-operation on various fronts including innovation and technology, creative industries and financial services.
Mr Leung and Mr Ma also took the opportunity to meet with the visiting Vice-Chancellor of Karolinska Institutet from Sweden, Professor Anders Hamsten, at Government House. The three parties exchanged views and experiences on the development of innovation and technology.
