The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the visiting Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Mr Han Qide, at Government House this evening (August 22) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.
Mr Leung welcomed Mr Han to Hong Kong. He said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government attaches great importance to the development of innovation and technology, in particular the nurturing of interest in science and technology among youths. He said that the youths in Hong Kong and the Mainland could make use of the invaluable opportunity of Hong Kong hosting this year's China Adolescent Science and Technology Innovation Contest to exchange knowledge and learn from each other.
Mr Leung said he hoped that Hong Kong and CAST could enhance co-operation and promote exchanges in science and technology between youths from both places.
