The following is issued on behalf of the Family Council:
The Home Affairs Bureau, the Family Council, the Commission on Youth, the Elderly Commission, the Women's Commission and Radio Television Hong Kong have jointly launched a territory-wide campaign entitled "Love Your Family More", aiming to advocate family core values including "Love and Care", "Respect and Responsibility" and "Communication and Harmony".
The Chairman of the Council, Professor Daniel Shek; the Principal Assistant Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Aubrey Fung; and artistes including Gi Gi Wong, Jade Kwan, Stephy Tang and Endy Chow attended a carnival under the campaign this afternoon (August 20) to promote family core values.
Speaking at the event, Professor Shek drew a comparison between cooking and building family relations. He said that creating a harmonious family life is like preparing a gourmet dish. In addition to selection of fresh and delicious ingredients, it is of utmost importance to make it with all one's heart. All family members should put their care into the family and love each other in order to achieve happy and healthy family relations. A happy family can bring positive and beneficial effects to all family members.
The Council, together with various co-organisers, is organising a series of promotional activities, such as radio programmes, a drama writing competition, parenting group activities and a variety show, for all family members of different ages to join. Through these activities, the Council hopes to enhance communication in families and encourage family members to show their support and care, so that they will together contribute to building a happy family.
