The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a drop of 119 cases, representing an insignificant decrease of 0.05 per cent compared to that of June, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 19).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 248 797 (see attached table), with a total of 376 518 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.0 per cent to 6 943 cases; old age cases also dropped by 0.1 per cent to 147 255 cases.
Unemployment, permanent disability and single parent cases remained steady at 17 500, 18 137 and 29 363 cases respectively. Ill health cases showed a slight increase of 0.3 per cent to 24 770 cases.
