The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the visiting Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Mr Shang Yong, at Government House this afternoon (August 18) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.
Mr Leung welcomed Mr Shang to Hong Kong to attend the opening ceremony of the 30th China Adolescent Science and Technology Innovation Contest. He said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government attached great importance to developments in innovation and technology and he was honoured that the Contest was taking place in Hong Kong this year. He said that the Contest offered invaluable learning and knowledge exchange opportunities for youth in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Mr Leung said he hoped that Hong Kong and CAST could enhance co-operation in innovation and technology, and further facilitate exchanges on science and technology between the youth from both places.
