SCED views operation of food trucks in Australia (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, made a stopover in Sydney today (August 15, Sydney time) to view the operation of food trucks in the city before concluding his visit to Australia.

     Accompanied by the Commissioner for Tourism, Miss Cathy Chu, Mr So paid a visit to food trucks in Sydney and talked to the operators to learn more about their day-to-day operation.

     Introducing food trucks is a new idea put forward by the Financial Secretary in his 2015-16 Budget Speech. With a view to enriching the variety of culinary delicacies available to tourists and local people, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau is, in collaboration with the Food and Health Bureau, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the Transport Department and other relevant departments, studying various aspects such as the vehicle specifications and requirements, licensing requirements, the mode of operation, food safety and environmental hygiene.

     Mr So and Miss Chu will return to Hong Kong tomorrow (August 16).
