Extended version of "Deadline" to be performed by Drama Gallery in October (with photo)
********************************************************

Local arts group Drama Gallery will perform the acclaimed production "Deadline" in October. Yu Hon-ting has polished his past production to create an extended version with new initiatives.

An original production by Drama Gallery, "Deadline" premiered in 2012 to mark the opening of DG Black Box Theatre and was a participating programme at the first Hong Kong People's Fringe Festival, winning critical as well as popular acclaim. The following year, Drama Gallery was invited to perform the work at the 800 Show Theatre by Modern Drama Valley in Shanghai.

The story was inspired by the case of the missing boy Etan Patz in New York. The story follows a couple whose son went missing without a trace twenty years ago. Twenty years on, they feel a deadline is approaching, yet they are still waiting for him to return. Their pent-up emotions are taking a toll on their relationship with their lesbian daughter, and the couple is on the verge of going insane before they find at last a chance of rebirth in the tiniest details.

The new production is directed by Benny Yu. The cast includes Gladys Liu, Yu Hon-ting, Lana Leem and Chan Kin-man.

Drama Gallery was established in 1998. Yu Hon-ting and Gladys Liu, the founders, are both awardees of the Hong Kong Drama Awards. Through performances, tours of schools and communities and also drama education, they broaden the mindset of the audience.
