The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital made the following announcement today (August 8):
Three patients (aged from 52 to 100) of a male medicine and geriatrics ward have presented with symptoms of skin infection since July 6. They were confirmed to have scabies after laboratory examination. All patients concerned have been treated. One patient has been discharged while the other two are under isolation with stable conditions.
Infection control measures in the ward have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
