The spokesperson of Tai Po Hospital made the following announcement today (August 7):
Eight patients (aged 57 to 84) of a female psychiatric ward have presented with symptoms of skin infection since yesterday (August 6). One of them was confirmed as having scabies after laboratory examination. All patients concerned are being treated under isolation with stable condition.
Infection control measures in the ward have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
