Transcript of SFST's remarks
****************************

Following is a transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, at a media session after attending a forum on "One Belt, One Road" this morning (August 5):

Reporter: How would you respond to two established economists saying that they are worried about the city's development and the young people, what they did in the Hong Kong University's conference, and they actually mentioned they were worried that Mainland China would give Hong Kong less support?

Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury: Actually I do not have any idea which two economists you are talking about. But generally regarding the gist of your questions, I can respond as follows: Basically as far as I am concerned, in the areas that I know about, I believe the Central Government has been giving Hong Kong the fullest support. In fact, a lot of the financial policies, many of the opening projects, have been designed in a way to achieve further co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland. And in fact these have turned out to be very useful and very productive, good for Hong Kong and also for the Mainland.
