Hongkong Post reminds members of the public to keep their personal data secure
**********************************************************

In response to media enquiries, Hongkong Post clarifies that, to ensure mail security in mail delivery, the delivery postman normally requests the recipient to produce his/her identity document for verification when making door delivery of mail items requiring signature upon successful delivery, and sign the delivery receipt. The postman records the first four digits of the identification number of the identity document on the delivery receipt as proof of delivery. All delivery postmen are required to be in proper uniform and carry a staff identity card issued by Hongkong Post while on duty. Delivery postmen do not take photos of any identity documents in the course of carrying out their delivery duties.

Hongkong Post reminds members of the public to keep their personal information secure. They may call the Hongkong Post General Enquiry Hotline (2921 2222) for enquiries concerning mail delivery. They should seek assistance from the Police as soon as possible in case of suspected loss of personal information.

Hongkong Post received media enquiries today (August 4) about allegations circulated on Whatsapp that there were suspicious persons impersonating postmen for mail delivery and seeking personal information from members of the public.
