MozART group to add touches of humour to classical music
********************************************************

MozART group from Poland will perform a concert in September blending originality, comedy and classical music. The concert is part of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Music Delight Series, which offers options for enjoying music in a relaxing atmosphere.

The musicians of the group have revamped classics, applying new colour by adding touches of humour and fun to the most glorious themes in classical music. They have created a unique musical cabaret to provide listeners with sophisticated, perfectly arranged and sublime fun.

All four men of the MozART group have been playing together since 1995. They are well-educated instrumentalists who graduated from the prestigious Academies of Music in Warsaw and Łódz, but they are dedicated to playing classical music in a humorous way. They are violinists Filip Jaślar and Michał Sikorski, violist Paweł Kowaluk and cellist Bolesław Błaszczyk. The group takes a classical composition as a canvas, analyses its structure and theme, and surrounds it with musical associations and brilliant, outstanding ideas. While listening to the final product, listeners are constantly surprised, amazed and laughing. Since its establishment, the quartet has also performed with colleagues around the world including the mime artist Irek Krosny and the multi-talented Bobby McFerrin.

The quartet has received prizes such as the Grand Prix of the XVIII Festival of Satire and Comedy in Lidzbark, Poland; the Bronze Penguin given by the cabaret community of Zielona Gora, the informal capital of Polish cabaret; and two awards at the Ryjek festival in Rybnik, Poland. In 2010 the group was awarded a special prize from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland for outstanding achievements and 15 years onstage. The 31st European Festival of Humour and Satire in Slovakia awarded the group the Grand Prix. In 2013 the group was awarded all three main prizes at the 10th Festival des Arts Burlesques in St Etienne, France: the Grand Prix of the Jury, the Audience Award and the Press Award.

Concert by MozART group will be staged at 8pm on September 11 (Friday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets with prices ranging from $120 to $280 are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).
