The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region hosted a Welcome Home Ceremony at Hong Kong International Airport today (August 4) to celebrate the triumphant return of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
The Acting Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs, Miss Petty Lai, extended her warmest welcome to the Hong Kong athletes at the airport. Also greeting the athletes at the ceremony was the Assistant Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Richard Wong.
The Special Olympics this year took place from July 25 to August 2 in Los Angeles, the US. A total of 76 Hong Kong athletes participated in nine competition events at the Games, namely aquatics, athletics, badminton, bocce, bowling, football, golf, gymnastics and table tennis.
After fierce contests, the Hong Kong delegation fetched a total of 122 medals, comprising 59 gold, 40 silver and 23 bronze.
