Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

     The Great Eagle Engineering Company Limited was fined $44,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (July 29) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Electricity) Regulations and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on May 14 last year in Central, in which a worker was electrocuted while carrying out temporary electrical wiring work in a switch room.
