Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi yesterday afternoon (July 24) in which a 46-year-old man died.
 
     At about 5.30pm, a motorcycle driven by the 46-year-old man was travelling uphill while a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 58-year-old man was travelling downhill along an unnamed road near Ting Kau Bridge along Tsing Yi North Coastal Road. When reaching about 500 metres away from the road junction, the motorcycle reportedly lost control and the motorcyclist fell onto the ground. The HGV then hit the fallen motorcyclist.
 
     Sustaining serious leg injuries, the motorcyclist was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 7.35pm.
 
     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.
