Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long this morning (July 18), in which an 85-year-old woman died.
About 5.30am today, a heavy goods vehicle driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along northbound Hop Choi Street. When turning right into Fau Tsoi Steet, it reportedly knocked down the 85-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious injuries to her head and the lower part of her body, the woman was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 7.19am on the same day.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic New Territories North are underway.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
