Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping today (July 17) in which an 82-year-old woman died.
About 12.50pm, a heavy goods vehicle driven by a 53-year-old man was travelling along Ngau Tau Kok Road towards Lei Yue Mun. When approaching Horse Shoe Lane, it reportedly knocked down the 82-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the woman was rushed to United Christian Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 1.14pm.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are underway.
