Grant approved for earthquake victims in Nepal
**********************************************

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved from the Disaster Relief Fund a grant of $0.429 million to Plan International Hong Kong for providing relief to earthquake victims in Nepal.

The grant is further to the disbursement of $66.345 million made earlier for the Government of Nepal and three agencies to provide emergency relief to victims affected by the earthquake. It takes the accumulative value of grants for earthquake victims in Nepal to $66.774 million.

Announcing the grant today (July 16), a spokesman for the HKSAR Government said that the Committee hoped that the grant would facilitate the provision of timely relief to the victims and help them restore their normal living. To ensure that the money would be used for the designated purposes, Plan International Hong Kong would be asked to submit an evaluation report and an audited account on the use of the grant after the relief project has been completed.
