Special traffic and transport arrangements for public procession in Kowloon on Saturday
******************************************************

     The Transport Department (TD) today (July 16) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Kowloon from about 2pm this Saturday (July 18) to facilitate the holding of a public procession.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

Lane closures
-------------

     Traffic lanes on the following road sections will be intermittently closed from about 2pm:

1. The section of Cheung Sha Wan Road (Mong Kok bound) between Cheung Sha Wan Playground and Wong Chuk Street;
2. The section of Cheung Sha Wan Road (Mei Foo bound) between Wong Chuk Street and Boundary Street;
3. The section of Nathan Road (Tsim Sha Tsui bound) between Boundary Street and Jordan Road;
4. The section of Jordan Road (Kowloon Station bound) between Nathan Road and Canton Road; and
5. The section of Canton Road (Star Ferry Pier bound) between Jordan Road and Salisbury Road.

Public transport services
-------------------------

     A total of 41 bus routes operating in the affected areas will be temporarily diverted. The public transport operators concerned will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic along the procession routes will be affected. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected roads on that day. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport services as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on television and radio.

     Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available at the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For further queries, please call 1823.
