HK and Singapore Police renew cooperation pact (with photos)

    The Police Commissioner, Mr Lo Wai-chung, on behalf of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on police cooperation with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) Commissioner, Mr Hoong Wee-teck, in Hong Kong today (July 14).

     At the signing ceremony, Mr Lo said: ˇ§Singapore Police Force is a jewel in the crown of our international network. Our two police forces have been enjoying a long, fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship as important strategic partner of each other.

    "This memorandum that we are signing today will continue to strengthen our relationship, particularly in the fields of fighting international crime and terrorism and also in capacity building."

    Mr Hoong stated that today marked a very special milestone in the relationship between the Hong Kong Police Force and the Singapore Police Force.

    "This MoU is of particular significance, as it reaffirms our close ties and the strong commitment that both Mr Lo and I, as new Commissioners of the two Forces, in wanting to further strengthen cooperation with each other as we tackle common policing challenges. Our mutual training exchange programmes also allow our officers to learn from each otherˇ¦s good practices and innovations in crime fighting," he said.

    Hong Kong Police Force signed the first cooperation agreement on combating cross-jurisdictional crime and developing Police cooperation with SPF in 2012 and it will expire in October 2015.  To maintain the tight cooperation between the two forces, both HKPF and SPF agreed to renew and supersede the existing MoU.
