Twenty-one building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in May, with nine on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 12 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments and five were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 17 building projects that, when completed, will provide 71 601 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 945 units, and 82 626 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued eight occupation permits, with one on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 24 428 sq m, involving 409 units, and 111 858 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $2.7 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 825 reports about unauthorised building works in May, and issued 536 removal orders on unauthorised works.
