Correctional officers intercept smuggling of suspected dangerous drugs into institution

     Correctional officers at Stanley Prison today (July 7) seized a small quantity of suspected dangerous drugs from a letter sent to a person in custody.

     At 3.30pm, officers found a small pack of suspected dangerous drug inside a letter during a security check. The case has been reported to the Police for further investigation.

     The person in custody was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of trafficking in a dangerous drug.

     A spokesperson for the Correctional Services Department said, "The department takes every measure to stop the introduction of dangerous drugs into correctional institutions in order to maintain good order and discipline in a drug-free environment for all people in its custody."
