Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Bill gazetted
*************************************

The Government published in the Gazette today (July 3) the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Bill.

The Bill seeks to provide a legal framework for regulating the use, operation, management and control of the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal (KTCT) to ensure its smooth operation.

A Government spokesperson said, "The Bill provides comprehensive legal backing for, among others, enforcing the restrictions and prohibitions of certain conduct at the KTCT to uphold its security and to ensure its smooth operation. Our objective is to bring the relevant legal framework for regulating the use of the KTCT broadly on par with that for other cross-boundary ferry terminals in Hong Kong.

"The Bill will delineate a Terminal Area, and empower the Commissioner for Tourism to designate areas within it as restricted areas to control their access, and to regulate the use of the relevant facilities therein."

The Bill will be introduced into the Legislative Council for First and Second Readings on July 8.
