Fatal traffic accident in Wan Chai

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Wan Chai yesterday (June 21), in which a 49-year-old man died.

     At about 9.26pm yesterday, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 49-year-old man was travelling along Cross Harbour Tunnel towards Hong Kong. When approaching the Kowloon entrance, the MGV reportedly collided with a private car travelling along the next lane driven by a 45-year-old man.

     Sustaining no superficial injury but was in unconscious state, the MGV driver was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was certified dead at 9.49pm.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3106 8838.
