Wounding case in Tuen Mun reclassified as murder

     Police today (June 17) reclassified a wounding case in Tuen Mun on June 14 as murder.
  
     About 1.30am that day, Police received a report that a man was being assaulted near a roundabout outside Ying Tai House, Fu Tai Estate. Upon arrival, Police officers located a 55-year-old male taxi driver who sustained head and hand injuries. The taxi driver reported that he had an argument over taxi fare with a male passenger whom he drove to the above location from Tsim Sha Tsui, and was assaulted by the passenger as well as two men who arrived at scene later.
  
     After initial investigations, Police arrested the 26-year-old male passenger and a 30-year-old man for wounding in Tuen Mun that day. The two arrestees were jointly holding charge of one count of wounding and appeared before Tuen Mun Magistrates¡¦ Court yesterday (June 16).
  
     The driver was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital in conscious state on June 14 but he was certified dead at 2.45pm today.

     Police arrested another man, aged 25, for murder in Tuen Mun this afternoon. The man is now being detained pending further enquiries.
 
     Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.
 
     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Tuen Mun District are under way.
