Final two briefing sessions on municipal solid waste charging (with photos)

     The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will hold two final briefing sessions in June to update the public on the latest developments on municipal solid waste (MSW) charging. The sessions will be held on June 18 (Thursday) and June 26 (Friday) with details as follows. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

June 18 (Thursday)
Time:  8pm to 9.30pm
Venue: Lecture Theatre, 4/F, West Block,
       Education Bureau Kowloon Tong
       Education Services Centre,
       19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon

June 26 (Friday)
Time:  8pm to 9.30pm
Venue: Auditorium, Christian Family Service Centre,
       3 Tsui Ping Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon

     An EPD spokesperson said, "We have received a very positive response with over 180 stakeholders from various sectors attending the first two sessions. Participants have not only acquired a better understanding of the recommendations of the Council for Sustainable Development on the implementation of MSW charging, but have also exchanged views and shared experience on enhancing community participation in waste reduction and recycling so as to get themselves better prepared for the implementation of quantity-based MSW charging in Hong Kong."

     The briefings will be conducted in Cantonese by EPD staff and guest speakers who are familiar with the issues concerned. Reservations can be made via email at wastecharging@epd.gov.hk or by telephone at 2594 6567.
