Fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long today (June 16) in which a man aged about 70 died.

     About 1.42am, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 56-year-old man was travelling along Castle Peak Road towards Yuen Long. When approaching near a petrol station on Castle Peak Road ¡V Ping Shan, it reportedly knocked down the man who was walking on the road.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the pedestrian was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 2.27am.

     The deceased, carrying no identification document, was about 1.65 metres tall and of thin build with short white hair. He was wearing a pair of grey trousers.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations will be conducted by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North.
