The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present "The Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong - End of Term Performance 2014/15" in July. The programme offers an opportunity for the Academy's up-and-coming young Cantonese opera performers to showcase their talent and achievements onstage.
The programme will include two captivating Cantonese opera excerpts: "The Impeachment of Yim-sung by Hai-rui" and "Young's Female Warrior". The performance will feature current students of the Academy, including Law Yiu-pong, Lui Chi-fung, Li Zirui, Leung Fei-tung, Lam Pui-ka, Kwong Shun-yan, Yip Hei-ning, Lee Ching-yan, Yuen Hok-wai, Ng Tsz-ching, Ng Sze-wing, Premium Jiny So, Poon Wai-ching, Kwong Tsz-wai and Tse Siu-ki, as well as students from the musical accompaniment class.
The Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong Training Course aims to train up playwrights and instrument accompanists. It also provides a four-year programme for fostering young talents to be successors of Chinese opera artists, which is taught in a progressive way by professional tutors and senior artists.
"The Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong - End of Term Performance 2014/15" will be staged at 7.30pm on July 12 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of the Ko Shan Theatre New Wing. Tickets priced at $60 and $90 are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).
