CE to visit Toronto and Chicago

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will visit Toronto and Chicago from June 8 to 11. During his visit, he will attend the "Think Asia, Think Hong Kong" campaign organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and meet with political leaders and representatives from the business and education sectors there.

     On June 8, Mr Leung will address the "Think Asia, Think Hong Kong" symposium in Toronto and attend a gala dinner hosted by the HKTDC. He will also meet with the Premier of Ontario, Ms Kathleen Wynne, on the same day. On June 9, he will attend a breakfast seminar hosted by the business sector of Canada and meet with local business leaders.

     Mr Leung will depart for Chicago in the afternoon of June 9 and meet with representatives of the National US Hong Kong Business Association and Hong Kong people who live in Chicago. On the next day, he will deliver a keynote speech at the second "Think Asia, Think Hong Kong" symposium and attend the Hong Kong Dinner. Mr Leung will also call on the Mayor of Chicago, Mr Rahm Emanuel; the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Mr Charles Evans; and the President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Mr Ivo Daalder.

     On June 11, Mr Leung will meet with the President of the University of Chicago, Professor Robert J Zimmer, and the Dean of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Professor Sunil Kumar. He will also have lunch with members of the Hong Kong-United States Business Council and board members of World Business Chicago.

     Accompanying Mr Leung on the visit will be the Director of Information Services, Mr Patrick Nip; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Anson Lai.

     Mr Leung will depart for Toronto in the afternoon of June 7 and return to Hong Kong in the evening of June 12. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
