Contractor fined for violation of safety legislations

Swan Hygiene Services Limited was fined $77,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (May 29) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on July 26 last year in Chai Wan. A window cleaning worker fell some 7 metres to his death while gaining access to his place of work with the use of a ladder at the external wall of a building.
