Two correctional officers were assaulted and injured by a male person in custody at Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre yesterday (May 27).
At 6.53pm, a 32-year-old male person in custody suddenly became emotionally unstable inside his cell. He punched an officer in the head and bit the left arm of another officer. The officers at the scene ultimately subdued him with concerted efforts.
The two officers who were attacked sustained minor injuries and were treated at the centre hospital, whereas the person in custody sustained no injury.
The Correctional Services Department has reported the case to the Police for investigation.
The person in custody was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
