The Under Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, together with representatives of the Department of Health as well as the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, will depart for Guangzhou this evening (May 27) to attend the first working meeting of Pan-Pearl River Delta region contingency co-ordination on food and drug safety tomorrow (May 28).
At the meeting, government representatives from Fujian, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong and Macau will exchange views on contingency management and co-ordination on food and drug safety to strengthen co-ordination and communication with a view to enhancing regional food and drug safety.
Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong tomorrow afternoon.
