Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, after attending the award presentation ceremony for Space Science Experiment Design Competition for Hong Kong Secondary School Students at the Central Government Offices in Tamar today (May 23):

Reporter: Can you just respond on the protest and will there be any schooling arrangement ...

Secretary for Education: This morning, according to the news reports, I noticed that as reported, there was an organisation and individuals visiting that particular primary school in Wong Tai Sin area and their actions have been a bit aggressive, hitting on the glass door and so on. I was told, according to the reports, a school girl in this school, actually was crying because of that shocking situation. I feel very much regretted of this kind of behaviour. We are very much caring about what's going on with "Wai Chai". For that reason, indeed, my colleagues in the Education Bureau have already been in touch with various government departments as well as the potential school principal, in terms of assessments of needs and so on, pending valid approval and permit and that "Wai Chai" could be meeting with the criteria in schooling. Pending the reports and advice from the other departments, we would be able to react quickly to address the needs of "Wai Chai". Here I would like to stress that Hong Kong community has been very effective in handling situations of this kind. Various departments and so on have very effective standing procedures in addressing it. So we have to give confidence to our current system in addressing that.
