Elderly Commission to engage public in formulating recommendations for Elderly Services Programme Plan
***************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Elderly Commission:

The Working Group on Elderly Services Programme Plan under the Elderly Commission (EC) will arrange a series of public engagement activities in formulating recommendations for the Elderly Services Programme Plan.

Public engagement for the first stage (the Scoping Stage) was carried out from October to November last year to gather views from service users, services providers and other relevant stakeholders on issues that require further deliberation in the Programme Plan. After taking into account the views gathered, the Working Group has drawn up a scope for the Programme Plan.

"Through the public engagement exercise held last year, we have gathered a lot of insights on elderly services, which assisted us greatly in identifying the key issues that need to be addressed in the Programme Plan," said Professor Alfred Chan, the Chairman of the EC and the Working Group.

"To further deliberate on the strategies and options that could be adopted to address these key issues, the Working Group will conduct the next stage public engagement exercise in the coming months," Professor Chan added.

The engagement exercise will be carried out starting in June. Focus group discussion sessions and public consultation forums will be organised. Detailed arrangements will be uploaded to the Programme Plan's website (espp.socialwork.hku.hk). For views and enquiries on the public engagement exercise, please call 3917 5013 or email to espp@socwork.hku.hk.
