Local ensemble Romer String Quartet to give recital in July

     Talented local ensemble Romer String Quartet will perform a selection of classical compositions in July.

     The programme will feature Haydn's "String Quartet in F, Op. 50, No. 5, 'The Dream'", Ravel's "String Quartet in F", Beethoven's "String Quartet in F Minor, Op. 95, 'Serioso'" and Malecki's "Polish Suite".

     Named after Hong Kong's native Romer's tree frog, Romer String Quartet is a local ensemble formed by musicians all born and raised in Hong Kong. The quartet has been recognised locally and abroad as one of the most active string quartets in town since its debut in 2013.

     Romer String Quartet has given recitals at venues such as the Shanghai Concert Hall, the Sabah Art Gallery in Malaysia, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the University of Macau, Hong Kong City Hall, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Center for the Arts. It was featured in the 42nd Hong Kong Arts Festival's "Images of Hong Kong", the Hong Kong Composers' Guild's "Musicarama 2013" and "Musicarama 2014", Freespace Fest 2014, and the Kota Kinabalu String Music Festival in Malaysia.

     Romer String Quartet is the Ensemble-in-Residence of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014-2015. It has also taught chamber music at the Hong Kong Institute of Education, the Macao Polytechnic Institute and the Kota Kinabalu String Music Festival. Other residencies in the past have included the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble's Modern Academy and the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra.

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Our Music Talents Series: Romer String Quartet" will be staged at 8pm on July 3 (Friday) at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $120 and $160 are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis).
