Territory-wide campaign to promote safe driving

Police yesterday (May 19) concluded a one-week territory-wide campaign to promote safe driving among drivers of public service vehicles.
This was the latest in an ongoing series of campaigns conducted by the Police using enforcement to target moving traffic offences.
The campaign resulted in the issue of seven verbal warnings, 88 summonses and 744 fixed penalty tickets.
Among the 832 summonses and fixed penalty tickets issued, 135 were issued for seatbelt-related offences, 125 for speeding, 86 for offences related to construction and maintenance of vehicles, and 54 for using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.
