Twenty-seven building plans approved in March

     The Buildings Department approved 27 building plans in March, with four on Hong Kong Island, 10 in Kowloon and 13 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 10 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments and 10 were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 19 building projects that, when completed, will provide 388 891 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 5 874 units, and 298 307 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 14 building projects.

     The department also issued 25 occupation permits, with 10 on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 34 258 sq m, involving 495 units, and 42 117 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in March totalled about $2.5 billion.

     In addition, five demolition consents involving five building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 603 reports about unauthorised building works in March, and issued 717 removal orders on unauthorised works.
