The Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing (Beijing Office) launched a roving exhibition in Tianjin today (May 15) to promote Hong Kong's unique advantages and its active role in the nation's development to people in the northern, northeast and northwest regions of the Mainland.

The first stop of the roving exhibition is being staged in Tianjin from today until May 19 at the 22nd China Tianjin Investment and Trade Fair, which is one of the largest annual trade events in the municipality.

The Director of the Beijing Office, Ms Gracie Foo, said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition this morning that Hong Kong faces Asia and connects with the world, and has the Mainland as its economic hinterland. The advantages of "One Country, Two Systems" allow Hong Kong to play a prominent role in the nation's development, she added.

"The nation's development has brought about unprecedented opportunities for Hong Kong. Hong Kong will actively make use of its unique advantages to achieve mutual benefits for the development of both the nation and Hong Kong itself," she said.

Entitled "One Root, One Heart - Join Hands for Mutual Benefits", the roving exhibition was designed with vibrant visual and spatial effects, rich textual contents and contemporary panel designs to showcase the various facets of Hong Kong. The exhibition presents Hong Kong as an efficient and vibrant international metropolis and covers topics including Hong Kong's close co-operation with the Mainland, the richness of its culture, its enterprising spirit and the hospitality of its people.

The exhibition has been enriched with an interactive game to allow visitors to get to know more about Hong Kong's landmark buildings and tourist attractions. There are also publicity material and souvenirs for free collection by visitors.

After the Tianjin stop, the roving exhibition will tour various places in Hebei, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Ningxia and Jilin in 2015.
