New Zealand electronic component distributor Active Components opened its first overseas office in Hong Kong today (May 11), leveraging the city's strategic location to strengthen its trading network in the Asia-Pacific region.
Active Components is one of the leading distributors of electronic components in New Zealand and Australia. Its customers include original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers and electronic design houses. Setting up a presence in Hong Kong lets the company forge stronger supplier relationships, and allows for more cost-effective freight solutions, said the Managing Director of Active Components, Mr Rob Mackley.
Mr Mackley said, "In order to serve our customers better, we were looking to move closer to our Asian suppliers to reduce the cost of logistics and shipping. Hong Kong is the perfect place to reach our goal."

Active Components is already planning to move into a larger premises in Hong Kong and employ local experts in sourcing, product management, logistics and website management in the near future.
