The Labour Department will hold a large-scale three-day job fair at Discovery Park in Tsuen Wan from May 12 to 14. The first day of the recruitment event will focus on vacancies in the retail industry, while on May 13 and 14 the fair will offer vacancies in catering, property management, transport and other industries. Thirty-four participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day.
A total of 102 organisations, offering about 6 400 vacancies, will participate in the fair. The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as airline ground services representative, airfreight warehouseman, assistant health service worker, clinic trainee, receptionist, waiter/waitress, shop assistant, kitchen assistant, technician, security guard, driver, warehouse assistant and cleaner. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
Around 78 per cent of the vacancies are for full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. About 98 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 60 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience, and many vacancies are suitable for young people and secondary school graduates.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services at the Labour Department's counter.
The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Sky Dome Atrium, Level 1, Discovery Park, Tsuen Wan (MTR Tsuen Wan Station Exit A3). Admission is free.
