LegCo Members meet with Yuen Long and Southern District Council members (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (May 7) with members of the Yuen Long District Council (DC) and the Southern DC respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 2 of the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

     During the meeting with the Yuen Long DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: reprovisioning of the fresh fish wholesale market near Yoho Midtown and future development of the site; proposal on tougher legislation against illegal parking of bicycles; request for enhancing current train service of the West Rail Line; request for constructing a footbridge extending from West Rail Long Ping Station to Ma Tong Road along Yuen Long Town Nullah; and progress on implementation of Yuen Long Greening Master Plan.  The meeting was convened by Ms Alice Mak and attended by Mr Tam Yiu-chung, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Ng Leung-sing, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Leung Che-cheung, Mr Poon Siu-ping and Dr Lo Wai-kwok.

     As for the meeting with the Southern DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: planning and development of tourism in Aberdeen; planning and development of housing; traffic congestion along the transport linkage between Southern District and north-shore of the Hong Kong Island; inadequate transport facilities for tourist hotspots; and district facilities.  The meeting was convened by Dr Leung Ka-lau and attended by Mr Abraham Shek, Mr Wong Kwok-hing, Mr Andrew Leung, Mr Chan Kin-por, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mrs Regina Ip, Mr Paul Tse, Dr Kenneth Chan, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Sin Chung-kai, Dr Lo Wai-kwok and Mr Christopher Chung.
