International Forum on China's Economy and Policy sees fruitful completion (with photo)

     The Central Policy Unit of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the National Academy of Economic Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences jointly held the International Forum on China's Economy and Policy at Central Government Offices, Tamar, today (May 7). The Fung Business Intelligence Centre was the co-organiser.

     The forum offered an opportunity for participants from the Mainland, overseas and Hong Kong to analyse, from a macro perspective, the challenges encountered in the Mainland's economic development in the context of its "New Normal" economy, the National 13th Five-Year Plan and "One Belt, One Road", and the strategy to address them. It also explored the roles of and opportunities opened to Hong Kong.

     The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, and the President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Wang Weiguang, delivered the welcoming remarks. The Chairman of the Fung Group, Dr Victor Fung, and the Director of the National Academy of Economic Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Gao Peiyong, delivered the keynote addresses. The forum included two panel discussion sessions. Mainland, overseas and local experts and scholars shared their analysis on two topics, namely "PRC's National 13th Five-Year Plan: Trends and Impacts" and "Mainland - Hong Kong cooperation in the context of the 'New Normal' economy, National 13th Five-Year Plan and 'One Belt, One Road'".

     About 300 participants attended the forum, including experts, scholars, representatives of overseas institutions in Hong Kong, and guests from think tanks, the business sector, professional bodies and local and foreign chambers of commerce.
