Announcement of results of contests to promote "Healthy Information, Healthy Mind"

     The Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration (OFNAA) today (May 2) announced the results of the 2014 Healthy Mobile Phone/Tablet Apps Nomination Programme, the 2014 Meritorious Websites Contest and the 6th Healthy Internet Video Contest. These programmes aim to promote the message of "Healthy Information, Healthy Mind" and remind youngsters to stay away from objectionable materials.

     The Healthy Mobile Phone/Tablet Apps Nomination Programme has been held for the fourth year by OFNAA. During the nomination period, more than 2 600 nominations involving a total of 370 apps were received. After considering various assessment criteria including qualities to promote the development of a healthy mind, educational value, practicality and creativity, the judging panel selected the following 10 winning apps:

2. Health Education for Lay Public
3. Fitness Walking
4. Green HK Green
5. CNN
6. Dodocook
7. Headline Daily
8. Barrier-Free Travel Guide
9. Mental Health Expert
10. 6 Minute English from BBC Learning English

     The Meritorious Websites Contest was first held in 2000 and has now entered its 15th year. The theme of the programme is "Surf Smartly and Spend Time Wisely". The programme aims to encourage website producers to develop healthy websites for young people. About 100 nominations were received and nearly 14 000 participants cast their votes. The 10 winners of the 2014 Meritorious Websites Contest are as follows:

     The 6th Healthy Internet Video Contest was jointly organised by OFNAA and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. The programme aims to educate young people to stay away from harmful online materials and encourage them to develop healthy and responsible online behaviour.

     A total of 75 entries (including 55 school entries and 20 public entries) competed for the awards of Best Video, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor/Actress and Best Visual Effects. The winning entries for Best Video selected by an adjudication panel are as follows:

Champion: Winners of the Internet
First Runner-up: <17 1/2> Part II ¡V The Selfie Stick
Second Runner-up: Angels and Demons
