The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding a female psychiatric ward in Tai Po Hospital in which a cluster of patients have been infected with Influenza B, the spokesperson for Tai Po Hospital has the following update today (May 1):
Two more patients (aged 38 and 79) in the ward have presented with symptoms of influenza-like illness. Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patients and the test result of one patient was positive to Influenza B. The concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
Admission and visiting to the concerned ward have been suspended. Infection control measures have been stepped up according to the established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
