New Omnimax show takes you to nature's wonderland (with photos)
********************************************************

The latest Omnimax show, "Galapagos: Nature's Wonderland", will be screened from tomorrow (May 1) until October 31 at the Hong Kong Space Museum. The show presents a story of discovery, of survival against the odds and of nature's ingenuity, all brought to life in stunning images.

A paradise is hidden away in the vastness of the Pacific Ocean - the Galapagos archipelago. On these remote volcanic islands which emerged from the sea around four million years ago, nature has evolved in relative isolation, gradually transforming the islands into a unique source of wonder.

Around the archipelago, converging cross-winds and deep, cold, nutrient-rich currents have made possible an unparalleled and bio-diverse marine oasis which boasts everything from abundant microscopic plankton to Galapagos sharks.

An amazing range of species inhabit the islands including giant half-ton tortoises, marine iguanas that spit sea-salt from their noses, tropical albatrosses, colourful blue-footed boobies, flightless cormorants and tiny penguins that have travelled thousands of miles from their original habitat.

The show explains how this remarkable collection of charismatic animals gradually evolved and became adapted to this unique environment.

The 39-minute show will be screened twice a day at 3.50pm and 7.20pm at the museum's Stanley Ho Space Theatre. An additional show at 12.20pm will be arranged on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The museum is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).

Tickets priced at $24 (front stalls) and $32 (stalls) are available at the Hong Kong Space Museum Box Office and URBTIX. Full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 or above and people with disabilities are eligible for a half-price concession.
