The Shandong Liaison Unit (SDLU) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) came into operation today (April 30) to assist Hong Kong people and companies to better capitalise on the opportunities brought about by the development of the eastern region.
Located in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province, the SDLU is established under the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai (SHETO) of the HKSARG.
The Director of the SHETO, Miss Victoria Tang, said, "The SDLU will work towards strengthening relations between Hong Kong and Shandong Province as well as its municipalities by enhancing government-to-government co-operation. It will also promote exchange and co-operation between Hong Kong and the relevant province and municipalities on economic and trade and cultural fronts as well as provide support to Hong Kong residents and companies in the area."
The Chief Executive announced in his 2015 Policy Address that a liaison unit would be established in Shandong Province in the first half of the year. The SHETO has been working closely with the relevant authorities of Shandong Province and Jinan Municipality in preparation for the setting up of the SDLU.
The SDLU is initially operating from a temporary office so as to commence service as early as possible. The temporary office is located at Room 1609, 16/F, Block E, Shimao International Plaza, 26 Quancheng Road, Lixia District, Jinan (Tel: (86 531) 8880 7137; email: sdlu@sheto.gov.hk). The SDLU is actively pursuing the setting up of a long-term office and relevant details will be announced in due course.
