The 26th Tsuen Wan Sports Festival Opening Ceremony cum Chung Hing 10K 2015 was held at the Waterfront Promenade, Tsuen Wan Park today (April 26), attracting over 1 700 participants.
The 10-kilometre run, with its route back and forth between the Tsuen Wan Park Phase II and the Airport Core Programme Exhibition Centre, was divided into men's and women's individual. The runners shared the sporting fun while enjoying the picturesque scenery of the waterfront.
The 26th Tsuen Wan Sports Festival is being held from April 11 to June 28 this year and covers eight sports activities, namely the Opening Ceremony cum Chung Hing 10K 2015, the Tsuen Wan Rural Committee Soccer Sevens, the Tsuen Wan Area Inter-Primary Schools Elite Swimming Competition, the Masters Games Soccer Competition, the Tsuen Wan Open DanceSport Championships, the Tsuen Wan Inter-school Badminton Competition, the Rugby Competition Cum Fun-day and the Closing Ceremony cum Lion Dance Competition. As the major sports event in the district, Tsuen Wan Sports Festival aims to provide residents with a wide variety of sports activities of a high standard, enhance their interest in participating in sports and their sense of belonging to the district.
The Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung; the Vice-Chairman of the Tsuen Wan District Council (TWDC), Mr Chung Wai-ping; the District Officer (Tsuen Wan), Miss Jenny Yip; the Police District Commander (Tsuen Wan), Mr Anthony Kwok; and the Chief President of the Federation of All Sections of Tsuen Wan Community Limited, Mr Chau How-chen, officiated at the event today.
Co-hosted by the 26th Tsuen Wan Sports Festival Co-ordinating Committee, Yuen Yuen Institute, the Federation of Tsuen Wan District Sports & Recreation Association Limited and the Tsuen Wan District Office (TWDO), the 26th Tsuen Wan Sports Festival is assisted by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Tsuen Wan Police District and sponsored by the TWDC.
