The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, visited North District today (April 23) to exchange views with District Councillors and residents on various local issues.
Accompanied by the North District Officer, Mr Yau Kin-chung, Dr Ko first met with the Chairman of the North District Council, Mr So Sai-chi, and fellow councillors. Dr Ko listened to their views on various issues including public medical services and environmental hygiene facilities in the district as well as their aspirations for the Food and Health Bureau.
Dr Ko then visited the HKEC Yan Lam Community Service Centre in Ching Ho Estate and chatted with elderly people and students in the centre. The centre provides wide-ranging one-stop support and development services to local residents with a family-friendly and community building approach.
Before concluding his visit, Dr Ko went to the learning centre of the 333 Learning Companion Leadership Program to hear more about community services to local children. The programme provides resources and professional assistance to primary students from low-income families who do not receive Comprehensive Social Security Assistance.
