The Hospital Authority (HA) Chairman, Professor John Leong, today (April 17) expressed sadness at the passing of HA Member Mr Andy Lau and extended condolences to his family.
"The Board was saddened by the passing of Mr Lau at United Christian Hospital early this morning," Professor Leong said.
Mr Lau was a leading patient advocate and started to serve in the HA as a member of the Public Complaint Committee on December 1, 2007. He was appointed to the HA Board on December 1, 2011.
"He has made significant contributions to public hospital services by serving as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Regional Advisory Committee and Member of the Human Resources Committee, the Supporting Services Development Committee, the Main Tender Board, and the Hospital Governing Committee of Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
"We are particularly grateful to Mr Lau for his valuable input as Member of the HA's Patient Advisory Committee while being the Chairman of the Alliance for Renal Patients Mutual Help Association," he said.
"Mr Lau will be remembered for his cheerful smile and his dedication to the HA over the years," Professor Leong said. He extended his sincerest sympathy and condolences to Mr Lau's family on behalf of the HA.
